📢 PRESS RELEASE
Havering Food Alliance Officially Launches to Tackle Food Insecurity and Build a Fairer Local Food System
Havering, London – 5th June 2025.
We are proud to announce the official launch of the Havering Food Alliance, a new borough-wide initiative uniting local charities, schools, community groups, growers, retailers, and public sector partners in a shared mission: to ensure that every resident in Havering has access to healthy, affordable, and sustainable food.
The Alliance has been formed in response to growing concerns around food insecurity, rising living costs, and the need for a more joined-up approach to local food support. By working collaboratively, the Havering Food Alliance aims to strengthen local food systems, reduce food waste, and promote healthy eating, while also supporting the people who grow, prepare, and distribute food across our community.
Our Vision is a Havering where good food is a right, not a privilege, where no child goes hungry, where children have access to healthy meals during the school holidays, no family has to choose between heating and eating, and everyone can access nutritious, culturally appropriate food with dignity.
The Alliance is already working support to redistribute surplus and donated food to Food Pantries, and is planning to roll out a project to improve access for children to healthy food during the school holidays.
It is our intention to become part of the national Sustainable Food Places Network, using its framework to guide borough-specific action and long-term system change.
“We know that food poverty can’t be solved by any one organisation alone,” said Tony Lowe M.B.E. C.E.O of Tapestry Care UK Limited, and spokesperson for the Havering Food Alliance. “This Alliance is about partnership, about listening to our communities, using our collective strength, and creating solutions that work for the people of Havering.”
Residents, organisations, and potential partners who want to get involved or learn more are encouraged to visit our website or contact us directly at

Together, we can build a healthier, fairer food future for Havering.
